tutorial | simple and cheap transparency film

Hello. This is a quick tutorial about creating simple and cheap transparency film.

I use transparency film in a lot of projects, everything from simple embellishments to a fun pocket filled with confetti and sequins. I'm smitten with the statement a clear pocket can make on a scrapbooking project. However, as most of us, I'm not fond of paying a lot of money for supplies and let's face it transparencies, vellum, and other special medium can be a bit expensive, especially if it's a medium that you use often and buy often. So I came up with a simple and cheaper way of creating my own transparency film whenever I need it.

Here's what I did:

Materials I used:

$25.00 laminator (I orginally purchased my machine for homeschooling purposes but have found it very useful for crafting projects and prettying up journals and planners. It's a one time cost and can be usee over and over again)

$13.97 pack of laminating sheets (pack includes 50 sheets)

Steps:

Step 1 - Turn on laminator, low heat

Step 2- Run an empty laminating sheet through the machine

Step 3 - Marvel at your new transparency film

Step 4 - Cut to size, 3x4, 4x6, etc.

Step 5 - Decorate

With any transparency film the possibilities are endless. Feel free to add stickers, flair, or even washi tape. Ohhh and If you have a laser printer you can try printing on the piece of plastic as well. Laser printers work better than ink jet because the ink adheres to the plastic better and resist smearing.
